CYTEC Signs a Joint Marketing and Product Development Agreement with SImACT.
Jackson, MS - May 10, 2010
Recently CYTEC signed a joint marketing and product development agreement with SImACT a New York-based company with a range of investment interests that are focused upon the Republic of Haiti. Representatives of the Haitian company, SImACT, have requested a demonstration of CYTEC’s various technologies. CYTEC's advancements in harvesting of wind energy, affordable municipal wireless networks advanced housing technology have come together to represent an excellent opportunity for partnering with other organizations with their philosophy in order to aid in the recovery acts aimed at the Republic of Haiti. CYTEC's technologies to be utilized are as follows.
Brown Bag Broadband
Haiti desperately needs a renewed telecommunications infrastructure in order to meet everyday and emergency communications needs. At one-fifth the cost of comparable networks, CYTEC's broadband solution can help restore communications and bring broadband access to the poor and disenfranchised.
MicroWind Processor
Wind turbines have been and are being deployed in many countries to help offset the rising cost of fossil fuels for electrical power generation. CYTEC, as part of an initiative to bring wind power to third world countries has developed a MicroTurbine that we describe as a wind processor that captures and harvest the power of the wind in all three axes.
Pyraplex Housing
With the recent increase in earthquakes on a world wide basis, CYTEC engineers noted the destruction of many homes and commercial buildings that were unable to withstand the horrific shock of magnitude 6.0 and above quakes. As a solution to the limited structural integrity of many buildings in these earthquake-prone areas, CYTEC engineers designed a structure that can withstand practically all level of seismic activity with little or not sustained damage.
Mississippi Company Offers Wireless Internet for Small Cities
Jackson, MS – April 21, 2010
CYTEC, out of Ridgeland, MS, released today its “Brownbag Broadband” initiative. In an attempt to broaden high-speed Internet access across rural parts of the country, Brownbag Broadband delivers high-speed Internet to small cities, one block at a time. Because large-scale citywide wireless projects can often be delivered with a hefty price tag, CYTEC is looking to ease some of this cost for cities. By using “Brownbag Broadband,” a city can setup wireless Internet for their city incrementally. For instance, a city might want to initially only provide wireless services for the downtown area, and as budgets allow, this coverage area can gradually increase until coverage has been provided citywide. With CYTEC’S “Brownbag Broadband” a city, town, municipality, or even community, decides how many blocks to provide coverage to and orders that many wireless nodes. CYTEC can either deliver the nodes directly, or professionally install them for the city. If, in the future, the city decides to expand this wireless coverage, simply more nodes are ordered (or installed). The nodes come pre-configured, so once they are powered up, they are ready to provide wireless access to users.
“In today’s economy, a full-scale, citywide wireless deployment is not always within a city’s budget. Although we feel that CYTEC offers the most competitive installation and maintenance rates around, a major deployment is not always an option for a city. For this reason, we think Brownbag Broadband is perfect for most cities wanting to offer wireless Internet to its residents.” says Oscar Deleon, president of CYTEC.
CYTEC is a research and development organization based in Ridgeland, Mississippi. For nearly 30 years CYTEC has developed software, designed and manufactured industrial computers and worked with the Department of Defense on many projects especially in the area of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). More recently, CYTEC has been providing innovative solutions in the wireless technology realm, with municipal wireless networking. Through the use of mesh networks, CYTEC has successfully completed the design, installation, and sustainment of many citywide wireless networks.
Local Realty Firms to use Signscan Technology
Jackson, MS – April 20, 2010
CYTEC will begin working with local real estate firms to implement its revolutionary Signscan technology. The Mattiace Company and Cress Realty Group have both decided to use the Signscan System with their existing property listings. Signscan technology merges two-dimensional barcode technology, smartphones, and local real-estate markets into one product.
CYTEC staff will begin by placing the two-dimensional barcode labels on various real estate signs throughout the Jackson/Metro and surrounding areas. Once in place, anyone with a camera-enabled smartphone will be able to scan the barcode label (using free software available on the Internet). Once they scan the barcode label, CYTEC’s software will direct them to a website which provides even more information about the property. These websites can include property facts, Realtor information, photographs, and any other types of media that is available for the property. The Signscan technology offers a service to existing Real Estate markets that has never been offered before. “CYTEC is at the forefront of the Real Estate technological market, and this will be the first product like this in the state,” says Oscar Deleon, president of CYTEC.
Mark McCormack, Executive Vice President and Managing Broker of The Mattiace Company, supported the decision to use Signscan Technologies on his existing properties. “In today’s real-estate environment, offering potential buyers immediate information about available properties must be our priority, and for the minimal cost of CYTEC’s service, the decision to utilize the Signscan System was a no-brainer,” said McCormack.
CYTEC has focused on innovative technology applications for the last 25 years. They have performed as a software system developer and as a government services contractor/systems integrator for commercial and military clients, both as the Prime contractor and as a subcontractor. CYTEC has developed experience and talent in both the Automatic Identification Technology arenas which led to the development of this barcode technology innovation.

Wireless Water Monitoring System, Hinds County Mississippi
Jackson, MS - April 13, 2004
The water monitoring project consists of placing a wireless node at each water well site to constantly monitor the drinking water throughout several rural cities in Hinds County. The wireless nodes are setup at the site with multiple sensors attached to a single node and the sensors monitor various parameters. For instance, the first site completed has two water sensors that measure the pH and Free Chlorine levels of the water, one sensor that measures the water pressure inside the water tower, and another sensor that protects the site by sensing motion around the perimeter. The wireless node maintains a constant link with the base station data collection server at the city hall, and sends measurement data to the server 24 hours a day. The CYTEC server application running on the data collection computer is capable of storing all the readings in a database for later extraction as well as notifying the personnel in charge of maintaining the water system of any breach in security or alarm thresholds. The application also utilizes web services for access to sensor data over the Internet. This allows city officials or maintenance workers to view past sensor data, see when alarms were generated, or print reports from anywhere an internet connection is available. The total project consists of placing nodes at 12 separate sites comprising of 5 rural cities in Hinds County with each city getting their own dedicated application server. Once this project is completed, we anticipate a large amount of interest from other Mississippi counties to likewise provide this level of protection for the cities that encompass their jurisdiction.
